Welcome to the Website of "SOUTHAMPTON HOSPITAL RADIO", we have been broadcasting to the patients of Southampton continuously since October 1952. You can now "listen live", via our link at the top of the page.
Affiliated to the Hospital Broadcasting Association (HBA) and serving the Southampton General and Princess Anne Hospitals, we provide entertainment to the patients 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year.
All of the members of Southampton Hospital Broadcasting Association (SOHBA) were honoured to be awarded the Queens Award for Voluntary Service on the 2nd June 2012.
In 2019 one of our weekly Tuesday shows, "Girls Talk" was shortlisted for the National Hospital Radio Awards in the Best Programme with Multiple Presenters catagory.
As well as programmes from our Studios we also produce Outside Broadcasts and Public Address events. One of our regular Outside Broadcast are live commentaries for all of Southampton FCs home games from St. Mary's stadium. Unfortunately due to copywrite issues we can only broadcast live football to patients in the hospital via the bedside Hospedia system. During this time internet listeners will still be able to hear our normal day listing programmes.
Look around our website to see what we offer, and if you want to get involved why not join us as a volunteer.
Due to the Coronavirus pandemic we were unable to broadcast "Live" from our Hospital Radio Studios during the National lockdowns. We are now returning to normal programing, but due to the virus and Hospital guidlines we are still unable to visit patients on the wards to collect requests.
Please ring us on 023 8078 5151 and leave a message and request.
You can also leave a music request or send someone in Hospital a message by filling out the "Make a request" form via. our link or by sending it as an email to [email protected]
Alternatively please look below for the details of our Twitter, Facebook and Instagram pages or simply just press the links to visit them.
